Immortalising leaves

 As mentioned in the last post, I have undertaken some recent work using and featuring leaves. The leaf once, dead and at the end of its natural life span is reborn and immortalised in art. Nature is spirit and spirit is nature.

These works are created using collage, watercolour and monoprint. The process is an intuitive and quite long-winded one. There is little in the way of control about this process and many of the effects are down to chance, although there are variables that can be played with.

Using colour and contrast effectively takes skill , so discernment is required while making these. Playing with transparency and opacity also helps to lead the eye and build further contrast.

Further works created using the same process but with acrylic ink, not watercolour.
